What is Nevrwalkalone?

NWA was founded in 2010 to contribute to the education of others around certain mental health issues. Everyone deserves a chance in life, life is short, so why not live life to its fullest? Nothing should stop that, unfortunately things do. NWA is a non-profit-organisation that will try it’s hardest to ensure that these issues are properly addressed, but we need your help. Whether it’s by a submission, a partnership or a donation towards our costs, everything helps.

What is our vision?

Nevrwalkalone aims to educate others about the key mental health issue of  youth depression, and the issue of bullying. In educating we also aim to reduce the stigma involved with these illnesses and issues. Depression and bullying should not be two things that people have to do alone. They are key issues of society, and the sooner people become aware that it is ok to speak up for help, then the sooner depression can be treated, and bullying can be resolved. These are two issues close to the hearts of NWA, and we won’t stop until everyone in the world contributes to reducing the certain stigma’s involved

What is depression?

Depression is a common mental disorder that presents with depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, low energy, and poor concentration. These problems can become chronic or recurrent and lead to substantial impairments in an individual’s ability to take care of his or her everyday responsibilities. At its worst, depression can lead to suicide, a tragic fatality associated with the loss of about 850 000 lives every year.

What is bullying?

Bullying is a major public health problem that demands the concerted and coordinated time and attention of health-care providers, policy-makers and families. Evolving awareness about the morbidity and mortality associated with bullying has helped give this psychosocial hazard a modest level of worldwide public health attention. However, it is not enough.

Bullying is a multifaceted form of mistreatment, mostly seen in schools and the workplace. It is characterised by the repeated exposure of one person to physical and/or emotional aggression including teasing, name D, mockery, threats, harassment, taunting, hazing, social exclusion or rumours.
